How is it Different from an Ordinary ‘BHK’ Model?
Can a couple of Bedrooms, a Hall, a Kitchen and a couple of Bathrooms complete a home?
Doesn’t it sound too Mechanical and Lifeless?
Aren't there many other Spaces that a family would need to make Life Wonderful?
If we go back in time to see the ‘Way of Living’ our ancestors had, It was not within a series of closed rooms that made a home, but a Variety of Spaces that fulfilled a lot of Family needs.
But, Due to this fast Urban Lifestyle, such Spaces are Lost in Time, may be because we started accepting a Mechanical Life.
Spaces like a Portico, Verandah, Sit-out, Courtyard, Backyard, Patio with Garden, A Deck, An Attic, etc., catered to numerous joyous family gatherings. The amount of Open & Common spaces was way too high compared to the amount of Closed Private spaces. We have extremely compromised our Way of Living just for one thing. “Urban Work Life”. And Sacrificed many Joyful Moments by confining ourselves within thick walled enclosures.
But Hey! Is it possible to include those spaces inside the small piece of plot We have?
Yes it is possible and is in our hands. For some reasons, some people chose just the bedrooms and kitchens as the essential spaces of a home. It is totally a wrong understanding of the order of essential spaces for a Perfect Home.
If one believes that a home is just to Eat & Sleep then just the BHK idea is enough.
But then, what about those numerous activities that we would engage ourselves as a family, which is how Memories are Created, and that's the beginning of Love, Hope and Dream.
Why do we give so much space for a private bedroom? Why is the living room designed around just the TV? Is watching TV the single most important activity at home? Can we optimise these spaces for more informal areas that are open and interconnected with Indoors and Outdoors? Is it Possible?
Yes. It is undoubtedly possible by a Good Design.
So it is going to be very expensive right?
